The Priory is presently owned by the Marquis de Croismare as a
vacation home, however, he is happy to welcome visitors.

Originally The Priory and the surrounding buildings were part of a
farm which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book from the 11th Century
which was commissioned by William the Conqueror to establish the
details of his new Kingdom.
Monks have lived and worked here on occasions until the dissolution
of the monasteries by Henry VIII when the property passed back to
King Henry who gave it to Christchurch College Oxford who still own
much of the surrounding land.
Christchurch only parted with The Priory and the associated Manor
House in 1975, but retained the farming land surrounding The Priory,
and this is still a large working mixed arable and animal farm this
creates good conditions for many Birds and for other wildlife to

The
Priory is situated in its own grounds and gardens of 3/4 of an acre
on the edge of the village of Brize Norton, near Minster Lovell,
Burford, Witney, and 20 minutes from the
city of Oxford.
Charlbury and Oxford both with mainline Railway stations, Oxford Bus
station (with very frequent coaches to the city of London, and
Heathrow and Gatwick Airports) and Oxford Airport, are all within 20
minutes drive of The Priory.
We
are able to rent you bicycles or provide our own Chauffeur-driven
Bentley motor-car should you so wish; normal Taxi services are
available from the local area, and there is a good Bus Service from
just outside our entrance gate.
The Priory has been subject to much renovation work in recent years,
and there are several large comfortable rooms available all en suite
or with private bathroom, with tea and coffee-making facilities, and
a cottage in the attractive gardens provides two self-catering units
for those wishing to be more independent. |
